If a tracking company never asks any questions about your website, I don't think they are doing the job right.
Tracking is never just installing software. It's a lot about handling all the corner cases on a website properly.
So today let's go over a few corner cases.
Email Popup/Capture is one of the most important things for tracking.
Obviously, collecting email addresses helps your email marketing performance. But few realize this is actually key to your Meta/Google ads performance as well.
Why do Meta/Google love email? Because across all of Meta’s products (like Facebook, Instagram, etc), email addresses are what Meta uses to identify all their users. Every user logs in with an email address, so Meta has this information across all their users. The more email addresses you can send to Meta, the easier it is for Meta to match your site visitors to a Facebook or Instagram user.
Most brands use native popups that are built into existing platforms like Klaviyo’s or Omnisend’s. Using an option from an established platform is a very good idea.
Their popup solution is already well integrated into your major marketing platforms like Meta Ads, Shopify, etc. This means that they already go the extra mile for you in terms of associating the captured emails with your customer’s behavioral events, and so on.
Pay extra attention when using custom developed popups
If you do choose to use an unpopular popup solution or build your own, please be aware of its risks. We are fully aware of this and have continued supporting different popup platforms.
Below is the list of popup platforms that Aimerce supports currently. You can see that in the dashboard.

Custom Ads Landing Page
If you add landing pages on Shopify native theme pages, this is handled automatically.
You really need to pay attention if you build the ads landing page on the different platforms or using Shopify headless.
Why? A landing page captures clickID when visitors come from Meta ads or Google ads. This ID number is generated by Meta and automatically associated with your customer’s events. For example, if they click on your Meta ad and get directed to your site, there is a Click ID associated with that event. This Click ID is used for Meta’s attribution calculations.
If you don't capture the clickID correctly, all the attribution will be off. That's why ads landing pages are so important for tracking.

Custom Checkout / Third-Party Checkout
This one is easy to understand if you're using Shopify native checkout. Everything will be tracked by default, but more and more brands are starting to use third-party checkout apps.
For third-party checkout apps, there are a lot of tricky things. The most important thing is capturing clickID properly, meaning the purchase event can be re-associated with the incoming session so that Meta and Google can calculate attribution properly.
If you would like Aimerce to handle the clickID tracking, we can handle that if the third-party checkout is willing to leave an order note in Shopify properly. This order note is called “aimPK”.
This order note will be used to match it back to the session and eventually track the clickID.

Subscriptions
All purchases, including subscriptions/rebills, will be tracked in Meta by default. To prevent system-generated subscriptions/rebills from being attributed in Meta, we can manually remove them.
This feature will allow the following things to happen:
Remove system-generated subscription renewals/rebills (while keeping the first-time subscription) from the purchase event.
Add the following custom events for you to build custom metrics:
OTP (one-time purchase)
Subscribe (first-time subscription)
Renewal (renewal subscription)

Quiz
Quiz is a similar concept to an email pop-up. The goal is to capture more emails.
If you have a quiz but you don't capture any personal information, then from a tracking perspective, it doesn't really do much. If you do capture personal data like email or names or phone numbers, then we need to track that properly as well.

All the corner cases will be asked and handled during the Aimerce onboarding, both in the onboarding call and in the dashboard. There are a few more corner cases. If you are interested, you are welcome to ask questions.
